I am in the market for the most effective digital projector I can buy in the $1500 (+/- $500)range. My end use is for auditorium size projection of photos (obviously!), and I am wondering what are the experiences, issues and favorite machines among NPN users? I need the projector to connect to my laptop. BTW, do you who give presentations like your images put into a software format, like PowerPoint? Or do you prefer to just load a folder of files and show them in slide show mode? Would appreciate your comments.

Terry, I have had a Sony VPL-EX1 LCD projector with XGA resolution (1024x768) for a couple of years. I find its brightness very adequate especially if the auditorium is darkened. I'm satisfied with it but not thrilled. Color accuracy is my biggest issue. This issue is exacerbated because screens effect the color and often are beyond my control. My audiences, however, seem more interest in my content and have never commented on color.

There is a lot of information at Projector Central.

I use Powerpoint because it allows me to easily order the slides and intersperse graphics if I choose.
