You can't go wrong with Lost Lake Slough for sunrise, west of Kebler Pass down a short side road. Also, a little east of the famous Dyke Overlook area there is a small creek that has numerous ponds, wide areas, beaver created meanderings that gives some cool reflections in all directions. Check out Darren K's site for a good article on fall colors, including a good overview of Kebler area.

Brent D. has a killer sunrise shot of East Beckwith on his 2004 Fall Colors Page. One of my all-time favorite sunrise shots from down there.

Ken-
For sunrise you might also check out the West Elks, specifically the Castles, visible from Ohio Creek Road. You'll want to scout this beforehand as there are several locations from which to shoot the Castles, some much better than others. But in general they are all along a one or two or three mile stretch of Ohio Creek around Baldwin.
After shooting the Castles at sunrise, you'll have an hour or so of good enough light left to drive up 727 Rd toward the Mill Castle Trail (just south of Baldwin, C2 in the Gazetteer) and get closer shots of the West Elks covered in yellow aspens.

3 repliesI'm planning to be in the Crested Butte area the end of this month and am looking for good sunrise locations. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Ken
