Knot Flocking
I have said to some that if I ever write a book on Nature Photography I am going to entitle it "Being There"...

Taken last night looking just to the left into the setting sun. (It was a nice night Dave_K  )

Slight crop to ensure that there was no blank sky.

Tpod/500mm
F6.4/8000'/320ASA
USM(150,0.2,1)*2, Levels and a bit of S&H to open up the shadows and drop the colour of the sky slightly.

PS its compressed down to Jpeg 5 to get a size that is acceptable to post so some loss of quality is inevitable :frown:

I like this, Tom. The BG colour is superb and the movement of the flock is conveyed really well.
Best wishes

Wow! Excellent, Tom. Makes your eyes go weird just looking at it. Just trying to image the noise. This en masse style is really something that I want to achieve over this autumn and winter. Congrats! :toast:

Did you take any with a slow shutter speed?

Looks good as is, but I should imagine using a slow ss would give a very surreal image.

Slow shutter - ofcourse ...

Knot coming into roost...(on the LHS)

A bit to arty for me but definately gives a sense of slowing movement if nothing else
