This is a big problem, I think since I've been on this site 4 people have had their stuff stolen. Some serious grey matter needs to be applied.
I hope insurance payback is swift.

Best wishes

Adrain,

I know how it feels... :frown:, hope you have better luck with the insurance than I did.

Co-incidently I have just had a letter from Gloucester police (some 2 years after the incident) saying that they have apprehended somebody for theft and he is asking the theft of other equipment (inc mine) to be taken into consideration; it eludes to the possibility for some court awarded compensation - I don't hold out any hope for this.

Was other stuff stolen as well, or do you think they targeted just the camera kit? I ask as it begs an obvious question?

Thanks everyone. Basically (apart from a few other incidental itemsO it was just my camera stuff although they left me my tripod which was nice of them  They got my credit cards and mobile phones but they were in the bag that I normally take to work and then nicked hat to put stuff in so they just got lucky   I guess.

Just had a call from the police which says basically not to hold out any hope of getting the stuff back. I think I'll be investing in a big heavy safe for the future. They can still break in but they might hurt themselves when trying to carry it off! :frown:

Hello Adrian
Burglary leaves you with a really heavy feeling, it is certainly one of the worst things that can happen in your home. I do hope you can soon reclaim on your insurance, meantime there are at least a few more pairs of eyes looking out for your gear.
Very best wishes

Hi Adrian,

Sorry to hear about this. Have been a victim myself and know exactly how it feels. Knee-capping is too good for them! I can only imagine that they had plenty of time or were very strong! Seems like they new exactly what to go for.

My only advice is to watch Ebay, private sales in the back of local papers, and visit all the camera shops and pawn shops (especially cash converters) in the area. That 500F4 is not a common item. Give them a list with serial numbers and direct tel numbers to you and investigation police officer or team.

Adrian,

Sadly like Elliot I too have suffered the same fate look on the bright side you lost no images as these can never be replaced. I hope you insurance moves quickly.

Thanks

Brian
