Bald Eagle - Vancouver Island
Nikon D200 1/640 @ f10 ISO 400
Nikon 80-400 VR @ 400mm

Have been away for most of the summer (it seems) first in USA & Canada, then Rumania. Appalled by high quality of images on the forum since I last looked - I have a lot of catching up to do.

Her is one from Vancouver Island, back in July. Bald Eagles are everywhere there but I did like the combination of this bird, with the lichens. Cropped about 50%, I an afraid as I was further away than I would have liked.

Cheers

Impressive bird Malcolm!

Not a very flattering pose from particular bird though {almost vulture like}, but the lichens work for me, and the upward angle certainly gives an imposing feel to the shot.

Nicely done

WOW  He looks like hes just had a bust up with the missis, that expression he's wearing is just awesome lol.

What an experience you must have had being close to these to get this kinda shot. The tree he's perched in adds so much to the shot.

Brilliant :toast:

Shame it is such a large crop, impressive bird on an impressive perch, think I would have prefered to lose a bit from the top and right, but prob not possible due to the crop.

Must have been great...
