Taken using the car as a hide.
Minus side being looking down at an angle to the bird.
Water levels on this pit made things even worse, but bird was reasonably obliging.

Hello Major,

Looks good to me, and in this 'exact instance' i think the downward angle has worked nicely, and prevented the head becoming obscured.

Not often a bird swimming away works, but the head turn has saved the day, and the light and detail are very nice.

Cant make up my mind whether its position within the frame is ideal, or whether a fraction higher would make any difference

Either way, its a nice shot of this chap.

Plenty of these here at the mo and spent an hour sitting watching a family of 5 the other day and will try for some over the next week or so,I think this is the perfect angle for these small birds,It shows the unusual fluffy rear end and the head turn with gint in the eye raps it off nicely,The water is not the cleanest with a surface scum but that shows a natural setting :toast:

Amazing birds & well captured.

Angle looks good even though think its a minus. I would be over the moon if this were mine.

The higher angle works to good effect here, a bird I find hard to aproach, I would definately like to see the bird highr in the frame in this instance giving it room to look down into...

Like the complimentary colours of the bird and water...
