Whitethroat
I had some frustrating days with these birds last month {dashing in and out of cover}, but fortunatly i managed a few reasonable shots eventually {by my standards   }.

Although i managed a couple of shots which suit todays trend of perfectly clean BG's  , i feel that i personally prefer this one, even though there is an oof stem across the rear of the bird {as this is the most common view of these little blighters that i usually get

The only shots i have of these are in cover so you have done well to isolate the bird from folage,I like the background and it compliments the bird,I also like birds with a beakfull of food and feel this sets it aside from the bird on a stick shot-Maybe clone out the rh twig by its foot but thats a very minor nit-i would be very pleased with this :toast:

I have been trying to get a decent shot of one of these for ages now, to this date I have not yet managed to get one but after seeing this I will try harder. The grubs in the beak are a real bonus.

Well taken :toast:

Splendid as ever, I prefer variation in the background myself as well.

A very difficult customer to get clear shots with. I trhink you've done brilliantly, especially with the food parcel in the bill. Well done :toast:

Alan

This is a brilliant image. BG looks fine to me.

I think you did extremely well here....

Do we try too hard to get those clean bg's and why? a bit of tonal variation makes it more interesting IMO....

Hello Alan
I agree with Phil, it's not just an excellent image of the bird, but the BG sets it off to a treat. Very nice indeed.
Best wishes

Hi Alan
a cracking shot of the bird but the green caterpillar to me is the icing on the cake.
