Long Dry Spell finally broken...

I finally got what I feel is a successful image for the first time in a very long while. I got this at Chanticleer this morning. It was a classic sunrise show where the briliant color started about 6:00 a.m. and changed constantly for the next 45 minutes. The color was even nearly gone at one point before the sun came up and then came back a few minutes later, as briliant as ever.

I ran out of the house this morning without my tripod  so I had to make-do with a bean bag on top of a fence post. It worked well enough, but changing camera angles was a major hassle, so I didn't get very many different comps.

Anyway, I took some artistic license with the colors during processing. I'm wondering about the plant invading the frame in the lower left...?

Nice colors Curtis and a great shot on a bean bag. I'm not sure about the foreground plants either. I'd probably have to say I'd like it better without them. If I kept them, I would be inclined to include a little more and the ground they are on to anchor them firmly in the shot.

Curtis,
You did capture a nice image here. There does seem to be a magenta cast to the image especially on the hills. Nice work!

I felt a little disturbed by the plant even before you mentioned it. Great seperation in the ridges. The light to dark line is centered in the frame, generally not good for composition.

Good point about the split frame Doyle. I usually watch out for that, but I didn't even notice it this time. I must have been too worried about keep the camera stable and level on that stinkin' bean bag... :(

Thanks for the comments folks. I have a couple ideas now for improving this.

Great colors but as Erik points out, there seems to be a magenta cast.

It is frustrating to suffer a "dry spell" in any creative activity. Glad you're still out there looking, as evidenced in this very colorful shot. Your composition is quartered in the frame. I know you were restricted in comps by lack of tripod, so it's unfair to say what you shoulda, coulda, oughta. Might I suggest to take it easy, go back to the basics and have fun. Just a thought in sympathy with your plight. Been there.
