I went with Pat McCormick to the East Fork of the Jemez River near Los Alamos today. We were unsure how safe the trip would be to the narrows with as much rain as we have had here in New Mexico. It turned out to be ok. The water was definately much higher than when the WNP'ers went through the narrows last year. That prevented us from getting in as far as we did last year. Still a good morning to get out and photograph. The water was ice cold, and I'm just starting to get the feeling back in my legs. But that what makes it so much fun!
Adam- That is the waterslide from last year. This is where we stopped. It looked far too deep to even climb down the falls. And if you remember, it gets really deep right beyond anyway, so with the added water this year, the water probably would have been neck to head level, with no ledge on the side to rely on.
Brian pointed this out to me -- I've spent years trying to get a shot of this cliff face. This is the best shot of it that I've had to date. Thanks Brian.

15 repliesThe contrastiness must have been a challange. I like the last two best.

Adam, this was as close as I caught Brian to the waterslide this trip...
Now that he's got his 5D I'm sure he won't be taking any chances.
