My 17 yr. old son, a high school senior, evidently qualifies for the Photoshop CS2 education pricing. Any downsides to the "education version?" Is this a good deal? Is it upgradeable as upgrades come out?
It's a good deal Kent, with the proviso that the ed versions can't be updated. You have to buy the next release, but if he still qualifies for the discount, the full ed version is (or used to be when I was a prof) the same price as an update.

That may be true now, but my first edition of PS was an educational version (5.5 I think) and I've upgraded with every new version. At about version 7, the "eductional version" tag disappeared from the splash screen.
Ha! Shame on me. I believed their spiel and obviously never tried the upgrade since I was getting each successive issue for the same price.
No clue about CS2, cuzz that came along after I lost access to the program.

I had PS 7.0 educational version and upgraded to PSCS2 with no problems. I entered 7.0 serial # when ask during install and it has worked great for the past 4 months.
