We camped right alongside this scene during my recent hike through the Uintas.

What is the plant? I saw a small meadow this morning along the road to Mt. Adams filled with the same flower heads, but dried out and wilted. The year before they were not there, but in that same meadow had been some deep mud ruts where some jeep had tried driving through the boggy soil and gotten stuck.

It's called Wool Grass, Mearle, but it's not exactly like the kind you see around here, it seemed finer. The Audubon book says there is a bazillion different kinds though.

nice peacefull image Mark. makes me want to tell my boss I'm sick today and go home and get my gear and deer-torn blazer, and head for the woods! :)

Believe me, Curtis, after a few days out on the Highline trail you'll never want to come back. It was pretty much crazy beautiful the whole way.

Mark,
Cool shot. It has sort of a dreamy feel to it.

I'm diggin' this one Mark. I like the juxtaposition of the soft flowers and the herd rock. The refelcted sky colors are just the thing to make this one pop.

I like it, but it needs more poop...like this:

The blue might be a hair bit over the top, Rick. I'll go for the rest of it though. I haven't printed it yet so I don't know what it really looks like.

Yes...it was all of 1 minute for the processing. Perhaps the blue is too crazy.

Rick - Those brown things aren't poop - I'm pretty sure they're rocks... And I really like this picture! the less blue version please.

Janet, thanks for straightening that out for me

Nice composition, but yeah the lighter blue looks better.
Marc, what a lovely, peaceful scene. I like it a lot. I liked it more when I cropped some off the bottom via scrollingÉ Thanks to Rick for the comparison re: popping the colors. It was instructive. I found I liked the original image much better. "Popping" it took away from the tranqulity IMO.
