Canon 20D, 100-400 is @400, iso 400, f6.3, 1/800, full frame.

Dabchick being fed with small fish.

I havnt been around for a few days, 1st my hard disk failed then my ISP was almost unusable so I am in the process of changing, etc etc etc etc...

Hi Terry,

A nice behaviour shot that I'm afraid doesn't quite work for me... I appreciate that a lower viewpoint may not have been possible but I just feel that it is too high in this case with the birds a touch too low in the frame...

Still a great to see and well done for capturing the moment.

All the best

Hello Terry

Great behaviour shot of a difficult species to photograph, it would have been nice to get lower but sometimes you get what you get.

Agree with the guys above and it needs more DOF to keep the chick in focus

A really well caught moment.Agree with the comments regarding the shooting angle.
I'd be inclined to crop this image to a panoramic format as I feel the empty space/water above the birds doesn't really add anything to the overall image.

Thanks guys - most appreciated. Low angles on this river are very difficult but there is the odd place or two where you can get a slightly lower angle but the Dabchicks never seem to be there at the same time as I am :frown: :frown: :frown:

A great effort none the less as they are tricky to photograph well.

Regards Chris.

A bit low in the frame for me also Terry {and the downward angled ripples contribute to that feeling}, but still a very decent behavioural shot, in awkward circumstances.
