Would Oct 14th or so be a good time for color in Mt Rainier NP?
If not, when?
Thanks!!
Jerry

In my experience the first week of Oct. is generally the best. This year, however, all bets are off. The extremely dry conditions often make for an earlier fall. I remember several years ago following a very dry summer that peak color around Shuksan occured mid Sept; the color was great and only lasted a few days. I suspect this Fall the color will be early and not very good but time will tell. Temperature will also influence the timing.

I'm already seeing leaves turning - if it's not raining on Saturday a.m. I'm heading up to Stevens Canyon... Thinking there might be some pretty colors along the Ohanapacosh. I agree with those who are predicting a short early fall showing of color.

I would guess that early will be better. The hot dry summer really fried stuff up there. I should be up there Saturday so I can let you know more then

I was just up there a couple days ago. It's true that the fall colors seem to be showing up early... however not much yet in the paradise area though. Wildflowers were rare; they were mostly dried up. It is hard to get nice clouds around this time of year as well.
