Any idea what the prices will be? From past experience it seems prices for Hartblei are pretty speculative and can range a huge span depending on demand (the 45mm super rotator practically doubled in price after being reviewed by Michael Reichmann).
It's interesting they say it's intended for wildlife. Should be fun watching someone try to swing a 500+ lbs. lens around trying to frame a fast moving critter.

I suspect the 1700 f4 might not be compatible with my tripod

I believe the 45mm Hartblei was $1000 when reviewed by Riechman. Now it's about $630. This MF lens adopted to 35mm should not be confused with the 35mm super-rotator line that cost $300.

They're just not wide enough for the 35mm size full-frame sensor! I need something in the 20mm focal length. The TS-E 45 and 90mm lenses are very sharp and my TS-E 24mm is sharper than most but I'd love to have the quality of the 90mm in a 20mm.

Just imagine being a Nikon shooter. The only TS is an 85mm and on the small sensor cameras it crops down to look even longer! I guess I'm experiencing Sheimpflug envy: the shorter the better!

I don't think the prices will be announced until Photokina. 40mm could be wide enough if you are going to use it for a shift-stitch lens.

Speaking of Zeiss, have you seen this monster:
1700/4 (weighing 560lbs.)
