Anybody planning any shooting for this weekend? I'd like to get out sometime, somewhere but haven't decided where yet.

Puget Sound area is looking for rain starting on Thurs. I'm waiting to see what the weather is going to bring by the weekend. I have Saturday off, and if rain has gone by then, am thinking Mt. Rainier... Would leave home (near Seattle) and head up around 3:00 a.m. to catch early light.

Wish I could join you... I'm doing senior pictures on Saturday morning and Sunday evening at Crystal Springs Park - the one by Reed College. I will probably go early to do some other stuff though... thinking about looking closer at some trees I saw there last time...

There are some really cool looking trees in that park. Have fun Ned and keep an eye out for those little owls like we saw last time there..

I'll be up around the Mt Hood area this weekend...so there's that too. I am going to drop some framed stuff off, then going to shoot...actually might do Lookout Mountain for Sunrise saturday...

Let me know, too, I'd be up for something (near like Mt. Hood or similar distance). There's been enough stress at home that it would feel good to get outside somewhere. I think Darren was hoping to get out somewhere this weekend too.

Sounds like there is some interest in heading toward Mt. Hood! I'd be up for that I originally posted the question for either day but Saturday would be better for me, I forgot I have something planned for Sunday already...Doh!

We should watch the weather. If it is cloudy and no mountain visible, we should hike along a creek or waterfall up there. If it looks like a chance for a good sunrise, then we should do the Lookout Mountain trip. It's a way easy hike, about 1 mile-ish in to the viewpoint/old lookout tower...in my opinion...
So, saturday morning...Kevin, Darren, Eric, me, maybe Jeremy, and ?

Man, I would love to go, but I have to drop off my wife at the airport at 9 am then I can head out for days. What about an overnighter and I could meet anyone where ever?

Oops, Swami, I didn't read the rest of your post. That's an impressive train, a 4-8-4, wow! Have fun!

Lookout Mountain is at about 6500 feet. Weather reports show the snow level could go down to 4500 feet. This means fresh snow on Hood so it wont look as dirty as it does now (hopefully)...but the big qeestion is, will we see it at all. I'm still willing to take that chance. We need to figure to meet at the high prairie trailhead a good 45 minutes b4 civil twilight...so that's 5:20am.

Rick,
According to the NWS, there could be close to 8" on the ground up there on Saturday Morn. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/warnings.php?wfo=pqr&zone=ORZ011&pil=XXXWSWPQR&productType=SNOW%20ADVISORY

I'm in. I think we could have some great mood up around Mt Hood. We dont really have to do lookout mountain if the group isn't into it. I've got to be back in welches by 9:30 to drop a few things off, then I can shoot more if people are up to that.
I'll go where the group wants to go...but if you ask me, the conditions are perfect for a chance at a spectacular shot of in your face hood, clouds and early morning glow. The again it could be a shutout...but I'm willing to try. We could always do the Ramona Falls hike during the day. That will be an easy 12 miles of moving around on foot for the day. Eh? I've already got the images from that place already...so that's just if others want to get em.
I'll be out for about 3 hours...but just post what you want to do, and I'm in. Call me if you want (after 6pm tonight) 503.260.6495, otherwise, I'll check back here later to see what you want to do.
