Chris,
Is it just that the actions "window" isn't visible?
If so go to Window> Actions or Alt +F9

If you've just dragged the action into the actions folder you will also need to load the action on to the actions pallete. To do this Click on the Actions tab, then click on the wee arrow on the top rhs of this, then scroll down to the Load Action option from the drop-down menu,( it should open your actions folder by default) then choose the action you want to load.
Voila

Chris,
If you're looking for the action in explorer it should be under Program Files->Adobe PS->Presets->Photoshop Actions->whatever your action is called.
To load the action you need to either drag this file into the Action tab in PS or else load it by doing what I've said in my above post.

Hope this helps,
John
