Anthropomorphize this
I hesitate to anthropomorphize animals. But with primates it's hard not to; they seem so much like us. This young Orangutan has a look on his face that is very touching but ambigous (at least to me!) There's a story that goes with this photo; it is captioned in my porfolio. I invite you to visit and name that expression, either there or back here in the discussion.

(  Really sorry, I tried but don't know how to link to my portfolio page. Help.)

Yesƒ none of us do well in captivity do we? Perhaps that is where I empathized with this beatiful boy. I don't know what expression my own face had at the time, but I definitely felt for him. "The food stinks, it's too noisy, people staring at me and calling me names and laughing at me, can't run far enough away, my 'habitat' is entertaining but not after you've lived here for a few years, and my first tries at making you to go away didn't work. I give up." And he's at a good zoo, folks, one that really works hard to put animals first. Yet he returned to the window to sit next to me time after time, as I stayed awhileƒ.
Thanks everyone for your replies. You called it. It's wonderful to be here at NPN, where all of you who are capable of going afar and afield bring home such great images of nature and wildlife.

If it's a female: "*sigh* I wish he would have remembered my birthday..."
