The second NENP Autumn weekend will be held Oct 13-15, 2006 in western Vermont. We are going to use the Dead Creek Wildlife Refuge in Addison, VT as the central focus. Dead Creek is about 30 or so miles south of Burlington, VT and at this time of year it is where thousands of snow geese stop on their migration south. As well as the opportunity with the snow geese close by there are a great number of other photo opportunities such as late foliage, streams and waterfalls up in the mountains along Rt 100, lakeshore scenes along Lake Champlain, and if you have never driven along Rt 7 and the side roads of Rt 7 there are countless farms and countryside that can yield wonderful landscapes and shots that would fit the Man & Nature category.
Where to stay:
There are a large number of motels along Rt 7 in Shelburne, VT and this is about 20 – 30 minutes form Dead Creek. This will be where you will find the reasonable rates on lodging close to Dead Creek. As always reserve early as this is a tough time to find a room in Vermont.
The small motels that are not part of a national chain have the best rates. They sometimes are not as feature rich as the chain motels or as nice as the chain motels. We find’em you decide!
1. Days Inn 1-800-329-7466 $130 - 160

2. Holiday-Inn Express 1-802-860-1112 $ 140 - up

Ok I just made a reservation in Shelburne for this weekend. I will be staying at ***the T-Bird Motel**!
How can you noit want to stay at a place with that name? Shades of Rt 66 in New Mexico !
Actually I read some on-line reviews form this past summer and people say it is clean, comfortable, and the people who own it are nice.
Will most likely be able to make it his weekend also. Since I live fairly close I will not be staying at a hotel. Let me know whee everyone will be meeting. See you in NH also.
