Having seen some superb White-tailed Eagle shots recently prompted me to re-scan some of my images I took 6 years ago off the Isle of Skye, Scotland. This was one of my favourites.
Taken from a small fishing boat using a Canon EOS 1V + 300 f4 Provia 100 rated at 160 and pushed one stop. Scanned on a Nikon Coolscan 5000ED and processed in Photoshop CS (Full width but a little cropped from top and bottom)

Excellent slice of action David, there looks to be a determined expression on the birds face!

Fantastic action shot David-I love the way the tip wing feathers curve round,At first glance i thought the sea was a very unatural colour but the bird is spot on so guess it must be-An image i would love to get

Hi Dave
I'm not too happy with the colour of the sea, but anyone who has used Provia will know it is not very accurate in recording blues and I have toned it down a little from the original trannie - perhaps a little more would be better. That said the sea is very deep off of Skye and I do recall the sea was a very dark deep blue that day.

Superb image of the bird David. I also find the colour of the sea a little distracting - a tad too much cyan? Perhaps a product of the scanning process but, as Dave points out, the colours of the eagle are spot on.

Cracking shot David,
I bet you soon zipped through the film with that camera, with this type of action shot.
Must be extra satisfying to get some shots of these chaps in the UK, and a shot to cherish

I agree about the colour of the sea. Nevertheless a superb image with some great action!

Hi David
A great action shot, and must be a fantastic sight to witness just a few meters from the boat.
The sea colour doesn't bother me too much, maybe you could tweak it a bit more in PS to see if you could improve it but for me this looks fine.
Can you still see or photograph Sea Eagles from boats around Skye or Mull? I saw them doing it on SpringWatch last year. Everyone seems to go to the Norway site these days for the Sea Eagles.
