Silver y moth
Nikon D200 Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro
1/200 sec @ f11 ISO 800 handheld

Plenty of these in the garden this year, feeding on the sedum flowers along with loads of newly emerged painted ladies and Red admirals. Possibly could have done with a tad more dof.

I love the detail in the proboscis and eye , more dof would have taken the ss too low (esp hand held) - and already on iso 800 - (film at 800 would be different..)

Am still wondering about which macro lens to go for - the sigma looks like a good option-

Nice shot Malcolm, good detail in the body and eye/head, the oof part of the flower just distracts me a little.

Hi Malcolm

A good shot of this particular moth, great detail, sharpness and colour. The composition is good too and I like the attractive flower head.
