Goshawk American style
I am not a great lover of full in the face images but when you are in a hide and a goshawk appears and decided to sit that close....what can you do?

Nikon D2X/200-400VR/Gitzo 1325/ISO 200/Black Widow/

I would be thrilled with a goshawk shot of any kind Rene, and this is very fine close-up shot.

Your composition suits my eye perfectly, and the image detail and overall impact makes for an attractive image in my book

The light looks very dappled/contrasty which is not generally the best but it certainly makes the yellow of the beak and eye stand out,Amazing to be soo close to this bird and a rare oppotunity to get a head shot of a wild bird :toast:

The light looks very dappled...........no idea what you mean by that Dave. The light fell through the trees..is that what you mean?

Nice portrait from what must have been a great experience, like the 'dappled' light and the comp is perfect...

Hi Rene,
I don't think many would pass up such an oppurtunity for such an intimate portrait of such an exciting species.
A great close-up and an excellent accompanyment to the full-bird shots which you hopefully got as well.
