Hello! Don't mean to interrupt all the aspen frenzy with an old summer shot, but, well I guess I will.
This one's from sunset along the Green River, 10 miles up from the trailhead at Green River Lakes. The mountain with the alpenglow is Ladd Peak, just another unknown peak.
This was early on during a brutal 6 day backpacking trip. This shot never really stuck out in my mind during the trip; in fact I pretty much forgot about it until I got my film back. It ended up being one of the best from my trip, I think.
This valley is absolutely incredible; never have I seen such a large meandering river so deep in the mountains. There's about 6 or 7 major basins that empty into this valley upstream from here.

If this isn't one of your best I'd sure like to see your best.
This is outstanding! A pastel wonderland.
The slight purple in the clouds tops off the whole thing nicely IMO.

Wow Jack, this is truly inspiring. As I keep saying - I need ot get out to the Wind Rivers one of these days. I've been wanting to for years.

On a different note, just think of the journey from the snows of the Winds all the way down to the confluence with the Colorado - what a ride!

VERY nice Jack. The sky works well with the glacial melt in the lake.

you're kidding, right? You didn't think about this shot till you got your film back? That's crazy, man. Maybe the brutal trip was making you loopy.
This is definitely my favorite of yours from the Winds. Everywhere the eye goes in the scene, there's something incredible there. In fact, it's easy to miss the great alpenglow on those very distant peaks just because there's so much else to take in throughout the entire scene. This is portfolio showpiece material.

I agree, this is one of the best of your photos. Everything about it is great. Thanks for posting a large version. It makes it much more enjoyable.
Jack- This is truly as good as it gets for mountain sunset shots. You hit this one way, way out of the park! Congratulations!

Great shot! Love the soft colors, especially the pink on the mountain top.

Great shot. Brings back memories of being there with a canoe. When it got too swift
to paddle, we lined the canoe up to the lake above.

Interrupt away, this is beautiful!
If I can come back home with a mere 5 photos of this quality, I'd be very, very happy.

Hey thanks for the feedback! I glad you all like it!
Guy and Art - I wanted to float down this river sooooooo bad!!! One my way out, I passed some guys with a canoe; I asked them how much for a ride down! That would have been a slice of heaven, but too bad they were headed upstream. Next time I go back there I want to bring an air mattress for the ride out.

This is a great image Jack. The colors, the subject matter, the composition! Well done!
The water paired with that sky is really out of this world!
