I'm thrilled to announce that I won First Prize in the Wildlife Category of the 2006 Nature's Best International Photography Awards.
The winning photograph was chosen from more than 12,000 images from 28 countries. The image will be featured in a special Collector's Edition of Nature's Best Photography Magazine, and it will be displayed in the prestigious Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington.

Marsel - Congratulations!!! That's well deserved. Any details on when the display will be there? I live near Washington and would love to get there to see it.

Congratulations Marsel - you most certainly deserve the honer!
Marsel, that's a stunner, and every reason why you deserve the first prize! Great job, and enjoy the booty :)
PS: I checked out your submission on their website (from here: http://www.naturesbestmagazine.com/index.php?nav=contests&subnav=awards), but the one they have online isn't as powerful as the one you've posted here.
Ashutosh - I saw that too. I don't know what they did with it, probably some nasty kind of compression method. I sure hope they're not going to print it like that.

Marsel - I just finished looking at the list of winners when I saw your name & thought, I recognize that name so I dashed in here to see there were lots of NPN winners! Big congrats!!! I love that giraffe photo. They are my FAVOURITE African animal & I brought home a few giraffe carvings after my visit because I loved them so much!
