Hi,

Sorry to appear so dumb, but I think I've exhausted other means of getting answers.

I signed up with NaturePhotographers and PhotoPortfolios to set up my account. Following the instructions on this page (http://www.photoportfolios.net/menus/postguide.html), I resized a couple of my photographs to 640x427 using Adobe Elements 2.0, did a "Save for Web", size maintained below 200KB, and uploaded my photos. Strangely enough, they din't show up for some reason; the text appears fine, but otherwise the image is missing.

Then I thought that maybe "Save for Web" isn't what the guys at PhotoPortfolios.net like, so I did a plain save as JPEG, size restricted to below 200KB, then uploaded to my portfolio again. Again - same problem happened - the image doesn't show up (check it out here: http://www.photoportfolios.net/portfolio/pf.cgi?a=up&pi=ASR), the image in question is http://www.photoportfolios.net/portfolio/pf.cgi?a=vp&pr=40059&b=up&st=1&la=1&ph=1&sid=17602&pi=ASR&u=17602

So I decided to search for help on this site. The help page itself mentions:

"An image editing program, such as Adobe Photoshop, will be needed to prepare your images for display. Help on using image editing software, and on preparing images for Web presentation can be found in the NPN Digital Imaging Forum."

So I went to the Digital Imaging Forum, hoping to find information on how to properly upload photos to photoportfolios.net. Much to my surprise, I find another discussion forum with 16 pages full of various topics, rather than what I wanted. And none of the threads seem to talk about how to upload photos properly for display.

Frustrated at this, I sent off an email to "info at photoportfolios dot net" (The reccomended address to get uploading images). I received no response.

So now I am back here, looking for answers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

you have to be a paid member of NPN, Ashutosh. I don't see the 'npn' member sign in your sig so guess that is the reason. Some nice images from Goa and Karwar on your page. :toast:

Ashutosh,

I am not sure what is going on. I looked at your portfolio and the image 'placeholder' for the thumbnail is there, but is showing a 'red-x'. The large image does not show up. The text does appear to be displaying properly, as you say.

I sent Jim Erhardt an email asking if he could take a look for you. Hopefully he will be able to get things working for you.

Thanks for the kind words, Prashant; you are no less of a talented photographer yourself!

Coming back to topic, I am actually a paying member of NPN, just became one a few days ago. Why the member sign doesn't appear - well I have no clue!

Do you know a better way of contacting the site admins?

Thank you Ashutosh.
Well,
email Jim. He is very prompt with replying emails. Perhaps he is busy with "three jobs" he is doing at a time.

Prashant and Preston, thanks for taking the efforts to help me out with my problem; really appreciate it!

I'll try to get in touch with Jim to get this issue resolved.

Ashutosh, we had a glitch in the software which produced the "red X." It should be good to go now - give it another try and let me know if you still encounter problems.

Aah, works fine now! Many thanks, Jim.

Regards, Ashutosh

PS: BTW, should I be worried if the "NPN Member" sign doesn't appear?
