Nice one Chris, would (say) f5.6 have isolated the bird a little more from the bg ?

Nice to see these Chris. I agree with Terry here that a shallower DOF would have helped a bit as well as a tighter crop. Good use of your car too.

Nicely done Chris!!
I quite like this framing, athough i agree that a tighter crop would work very nicely {personal preference}. Its certainly pin sharp, and i'm sure a tighter view would be no problem with quality, if you decide to go that route.

Hi Chris, it's a nice shot - and it's interesting how the winter plumage of the Godwit blends in with the BG. Not sure if I would crop tighter here.

I took this picture of a Black Tailed Godwit at leigh on sea a couple of days ago using the car as a hide.
The techs were:
Nikon D2X, 300MM F2.8 VR, 2xTC, 1/640 sec at F11.
C & C welcome
Regards Chris.
Nice shot - it's a pity the BG doesn't help the bird 'pop' a little more and for that reason I would go for a slightly tighter crop!
