Hey moderators? Since the forum Lurker vs. Poster ratio has become so high in the last several months, is it possible to increase the posts to 2 per 24 hour period? It would make it much more interesting to the posters who enjoy critiquing images... just a thought and request.. thanks! :wavey:

The moderators will be kibbitzing on this and report back to the forum our decision. My first blush is I see no reasons to NOT do this and PLENTY reasons TO do this.

We'll let yall know right quick here.... :toast:

I hope it is increased.... also wish the size was 250KB since way way more often the ending size in PS is just a bit over 200Kb and I have to use "Save for Web" which degrades a bit the image quality.. grrrrrrrrr

OK your moderators have kibbitzed on this issue and as of today:

The posting limit for the PNWNP forum has been changed to a two posts per 24 hour time period limit!!! Your moderators reserve the right to roll this back to one post per 24 hour time period at any time in the future.

John as far as posting image size goes there is a way around that. One can host the image on one's own web server/hosting service (which is what I sometimes do). The owner of NPN sets the image size restrictions. Your PNWNP forum moderators do not have control over this aspect of NPN. I hear your pain and I too am less than pleased with the image munching that has to take place to JPEG an awesome image down to 200KB. The good news is all of us here understand this aspect of image crunching/sharing/critiquing and we all take it in stride, grumbling included. It's the nature of the beast...

So enjoy the new posting guidelines folks!! I'll have our webmaster update the posting guideline in the header of the forum.

One thing you guys might like to try is a trial download of PhotoCleaner. It allows you to take a tiff image and convert and resize it to jpeg very easily. When you save the image as a jpeg, you simply go to the advanced tab and lock the preview.. then increase the quality of the jpeg save to where it falls under 200k. As long as you save the image at 90 or so, it will look great on screen, and fall well under the postig limit size. Typically, depending on picture content, I can save from 94 to 98 without a problem caused be too much compression, yet under 200k. I use it simply for sharpening jpegs - have never bought the full version. It says it is a 30 day trial, but it doesn't expire. The only inconvenience is that it asks you if you want to buy it when you close it - nothing else.

For what its worth, the site wouldn't let me post more than 1 in 24.

yeah, I was thinking that the 1 in 24 was hard-wired into the system... Looks like Rick and Erik need to put on thier diplomacy hats and go suck up to Jim. :jump:

Good luck getting the policy changed. Ned, Photocleaner is only for PC - I'm on a machine of different blood.

Oh drats! I just had one that I couldn't get sized right, so I used my host for it (website).

I also could not post a second image within a 24 hr period., if it supposed to be allowed now.
