Will have to have a play with "Photoshop lightroom" (as it's now called) to see if it's any better. Personally, I didn't find Beta3 for windows to be that good.
Will be interesting to contrast it with Aperture 1.5 when Apple release the update later this week (see Apperture 1.5 new features). It looks like Apple are begining to refine Aperture a bit more now .
PhaseOne had better get their collective fingers out of their backsides with CaptureOne V4 (now around 2yrs or so late ) - Adobe and Apple are now starting to pull well ahead in terms of features, although maybe not quite in terms of quality and speed yet (but not far!)...
I have been playing tonight and I am impressed by the increase in speed and the slight tweaks to the [ayout - it still doesn't appear to have a stack function though.

Shame that Adobe have taken this long to speed up the beta version. Had Adobe made Lightroom a bit quicker a bit sooner I might have been persuaded to continue using it, but after forking out £250 for Aperture I'm bloody sure that I'll be sticking with it for a good while.
It'll be interesting to see where Adobe pitches it's price for this software when it becomes a public version and how many free upgrades it will include in the price.
This Beta version will work until Feb 28th 2007 so I guess its actual release with be the photo show in Jan/Feb in the USA

I'm still not decided about lightroom. The only other raw processing software I've tried is RSE so I can't compare it with the other stuff out there but i've found some things i really like about it and some that i don't. Features wise it's way ahead of RSE - but then RSE was free so what do you expect. I like being able to use it as an organiser as well as an editer, I like the workflow with the library, develop then print etc and the developing controls seem very good to me.
However it is increadibly slow (in particular showing 100% magnification) on my computer and this hasn't improved with Beta4. That said I could do with some more RAM which might solve that problem but i didn't have the same problems in RSE. Deleting files is also a pain - if you accidentally press delete without holding down control you delete the file from the library but not the hard drive and so have to hunt for the file to get rid of it propperly - i much preffered the RSE method of marking for deletion and then getting rid of them all in one go. I've actually taken to using a rating of 1 star to mimic this style.
And you still need photoshop - it would be really nice to be able to do everything in one piece of software and if it had a dust spotter that would be possible most of the time - but then they might lose sales on photoshop...
Ummm, something funny going on with LR and its star rating system - imported 30 odd shots, rated 5 with 5 stars, the rest disappeared...(5 images in library!), ran a slideshow of the 5 picks, exited slideshow changed to web/print and 3 more disappeared (2 images in library!).....think I'll give up on it for tonight and take a look again tomorrow .

Same sort of thing happened with me Nick, but I went to answer the phone, and when I returned - so had the images . Its not the computer, I've got 4gb of RAM and the Athlon X2 chip - so I think I'll stick with CS2 for now.
Best wishes
