Hi John
Love the detail you have captured here. OOF rock in the foreground does distract me though.
You have an excellent set of Gannet pictures on your web site. I particularly like the young Gannet (already seen on here) and the flight shot of a Gannet carrying seaweed.
Hi John, as David said the oof rock also distracts me a little but I still like it as it is different from most other Gannet shots that I have seen

Hi John,
Took a look at your Gannet shots on your website. Excellent collection of images. Have to agree on the OOF FG in this shot.

Yes and no John
I can see a repetative pattern on the alteration, but no dought a bit more work would make it blend in better {i realise this is just a quick effort though}.
The main problem i would have with this major alteration [if it were mine} would be that i would always know it had been altered, and therefore it would always bug me . That said, i do think it improves the image and concentrates the eye completely on the subject. I guess it depends on whether the shot is for your own viewing/memories of the day etc, or for other purposes.
I did a very similar job on a purple sandpiper shot, but within days it ended in the bin, as it was a 'clone too far' for me personally.

Hi John
Really lovely image and, on balance, I prefer the original, uncloned version. Yes the oof foreground rock detracts a little but it does at least give the impression that the bird is going to land on something. To my mind these beautifully sharp flight shots can lsometimes look a little 'frozen' without a bit of context to rerinforce the direction of movement.
I really must get across to the Bass next year.
Cheers

Hello John
I must say I do prefer the first image, and I think for the reasons Malcolm mentioned. Yet another cracking Gannet image.
Best wishes

Hi John as to the new post i think it is improved but you can see the repetetive cloning on the rock try moving the clone start point about a bit more and see if you can improve further lovelly shot by the way shame these things seem to get in the way sometimes or try another place on the Bass there are plenty of options there or at least there used to be maybe its all changed now haven't been for a few years good luck Gav Coleman P/S what about taking away the rock completely its a nice plain B/G easy to clone away
