A 'sproggie' doing the splits :)

Canon 5D, sigma 300-800, 1/100, f6.3, iso 400

One of my earliest efforts with this lens a couple of weeks ago, all comments appreciated.

Hi Terry the biggest problem appears to be that it isn't very sharp whereas the background looks ok the actual branch and bird seem to have a strange colour cast, it takes quite a bit of effort to get good results with the 800 Sigma especially at 1/100, I know when I first started using mine I couldn't believe how difficult it was to get consistent sharp images.

Phillip.

Ps the more you practice the better you will get it is a very rewarding lens once mastered.

Saw a review the other day of this lens. A real monster. As Philip remarked, practice. What tripod did you use? Love the pose of the 'sproggie'.

Excellent position captured Terry :toast:

I'm sure you will love this huge beast, although it will take some getting used to for you to use it to its full potential.

This shot looks pretty good to me, for one of your first efforts {far better than my first attempt with 800mm  }.

Look forward to your future efforts with this big chap!

Thanks guys for your feedback  The 'position' made me laugh so I thought I would post it even with its problems. Philip, Alan thanks also for the encouragement that things will get better with more use as up to now I havnt been completely happy with the results, but I know its 'me' and not the lens so I will have to get some more practise in.

Paul, thanks for the link which I found interesting  The tripod is a Manfrotto 475 which is bl**dy heavy so that is not my problem, I think its just my technique and I need to take time and try different soloutions to see which one 'works' for me

Hello Terry
Philip is certainly a good tutor and I always listen to his advice. Certainly nothing wrong with the content of your image, just a bit more practice with the lens.
Best wishes
