The fall color update thread kinda got highjacked by who/when/where in GSMNP/autumn trip posts.
Lets post those here and save the fall color updates on the other thread.
Now....who's going to be in the Park this fall and when??? I'll probably be there October 24th through the 27th if anyone wants to meet up, just let me know.
Jerry and I have a workshop on the 28th and 29th.

My wife and I will be there Oct. 20-23! Depending on the weather and conditions, I may return the following week as well.

I will be there Oct. 25-29 and will be attending the weekend workshop.
Let me know if you want to meet up a day or two before the workshop begins. I should be getting there on the 24th, but it could change. 864-270-0919.

Richard,
I'll be doing Tremont and Elkmont during peak color; Tremont is well known, but there's a nice cascade in Elkmont with good fall color if you know where to look for it.

Richard,
I will be there the 23rd leaving the 25th or 26th. I would love to meet up with you again.
You bet. Lets talk the week before heading up there. I should be open for a few days leading up to the weekend.

I am tempted to schedule for the 27th through the 29th. But perhaps the previous weekend (20th - 22nd) will be better?!
My preferred areas are Tremont, Elkmont, Little River Road, Roaring Fork maybe the Chimneys, and especially Big Creek. Maybe shoot around Greenbriar and perhaps Hen Wallow falls again in Cosby.
Like I mentioned in another thread, I will have my kids with me but I would like to meet up with whoever is in the area during my visit.
I'll probably need to finalize my plans pretty soon, probably long before it is clear which weekend is best for fall color.

I will be there from the 22nd-28th. On the 23rd I will be starting a 4 day/3 night backpacking/photography trip with a sunrise shoot at Clingman's Dome before hitting the Appalachian Trail heading West ending in Cades Cove. Has anyone backpacked this section of the AT before. I am hoping for some quality pano landscape opps filled with fall color on the mountains below. The other days I will be working the normal areas that have already been mentioned. Hopefully mother nature cooperates with the weather and the foliage.

FYI to anyone going to the smokies this weekend. The road between sugarlands and the townsend Y is closed for awhile. Yesterday I was up that way heading towards sugarlands along the little river road when I came upon a HUGE part of the hillside blocking the entire right side of the road. this was very early friday morning and it was starting to rain as well. Very yucky out. I went around it slowly and it looked very unstable. This was even before the rangers got there. On my way back 2 rangers were there looking at it and I was not suprised when a friend sent me a notice from the GSM parks dept saying the road was going to be closed for awhile. One to clean up and Two, they feel its unstable. Of course you can use wears valley road from piegon forge to townsend to get to cades cove. I think they closed 8 mile stretch from elkmont road to the Y in townsend. But on a good note for me at least, maybe Cades Cove will be quieter than normal I was there earlier this week and its starting to get busy.
Hope all who are coming to see the fall leaves will enjoy themselves. I love living 25 min from cades cove. Its awesome.
I plan to be in the Smokies Oct 19-22. Cades Cove is one onf my favorite places to be, with or without a camera. I wll be staying in Townsend. I'm going by myself so I can spend every minute shooting. I just purchased a new Canon 100-400 IS and can't wait to get amoung the Deer. I also plan to go over to Catalooche to see the elk for the first time and I'm hopeing for some good fall colors. I would love to meet up with any fellow NPN members.

Little River Road has reopened. So you can access Cades Cove or anywhere along LRR from Gatlinburg and surgar lands and visa versa... Come enjoy the leaves..

Just saw this thread. I'll be doing my two workshops in GSMNP from the 21st through 28th (Intro to Large Format the first two days, then "general" landscape through the end of the week). Stop by and say hello if you see me out with the groups!

Planning to stay at big creek if I can get a spot (it's a small campground).
If not, probably stay at Cosby.
I will be shooting Big Creek and the Tennessee side all the way down to Cades Cove. Kids in tow. I'm sure I will see some of you there.
Will you please send me some info on your workshop? I would like to come down during that weekend anyway. Thanks.
