My wife and I will be vacationing at Orange Beach this Friday through Tuesday. We have looked at all the info we could find on the web and we know there are several State Parks and a zoo in the area. Hoping to catch some local and migrant birds.

Any local advice or help will be greatly appreciated. I learned the benefit of having a local "guide" on our Reno trip. I might even spring for lunch!

Hi Mike - Orange Beach is not far from where I live (1 hour) but unfortunately I'm pitifully ignorant about the area. It's very built up so I don't go that way very often. On the Florida side there's a state park on the beach with beautiful dunes but no one is allowed on them for any reason (Welcome to your tax funded state park - No trespassing!). On the Alabama side there's also a state park and I it's much friendlier, but I haven't visited it since Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis so I don't know what kind of shape it's in currently. There should be some tide pools, etc. that might offer some nice intimate shots that you do so well. If I get a chance today or tomorrow I'll try to drive over there and check it out for you. I'll email you.

Fantastic Bill! Maybe we can get together while I'm there. I enjoy getting to meet the people I "talk" to on these boards.
