Another post from my hol' here in the Hebrides. (Very slow and unreliable dial-up link in use - so I'll need to be quick.)

Can some expert in such matters give me a CS2 workflow for cloning out twigs or correct procedure for the cloning out of wire (especially the areas where the wire may be kinked due to more wire being wrapped around it in the vertical position. How do you clone out the wrapped wire leaving the underlying horizontal kink looking natural)?

Thankyou very much

Hi Antony

I am always game for a PhotoShop challenge, not that I regard myself as any kind of PS guru but it is always fun to try stuff out.

Here is my attempt at cleaning up your kink. I just went for straightening out the wire as follows ;

1. Cut and paste a cloned area of background over the kink area of wire to remove the kink.
2. Cut and paste a straight section of wire to the left of the kink into a new image
3. Rotate the new image 3 degrees counter clockwise
4. Cut and past the wire from 3. into the image to extend the wire
5. Repeat 4. a couple of times until the wire is at the edge of the frame (I think I rotated it another degree so the wire cutout followed the line of the wire)
6. Ran Neatimage on it (just because I thought it was a bit noisy in the greens)

That was it. A quick bash, a more thoughtful attempt on the original image should hopefully give a better result.

cheers

Sean

p.s. Very nice shot of a twite :toast:

Good Sean, but you need to blur some of the wire at the front.........too much DOF here to tie in with what's behind the bird.

Nice shot BTW

Great shot of the bird Antony!!

Not sure you need to clone/straighten areas of these wire fences, as its pretty natural for them to have the odd kink and bend.

Although the wire fences may not as photogenic as other perches, i think most of us accept that they are part of 'our' landscape, and therefore find them perfectly acceptable {i certainly do
