Hello Folks,
An opportunity popped up for an unplanned photo trip to Denver. Does anyone have suggestions for best locations? I have never been to the area and looking for guidance. Arrive Denver 9/29 AM and free unitil 10/3 AM. Any help/tips etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Lots of great photo locations described in Darren Kilgore's www.mycolorado.org. If you booked a room in Gunnison or Montrose, you'd be centrally located to shoot fall color in Crested Butte or the San Juan Mtn areas (along with all the rest of us!)...
If you need some suggestions near Denver, try Eldorado Canyon SP and Chautauqua Park near Boulder, Red Rocks Park west of Denver, and Roxborough Park SW of Denver. All are in varying stages of color changes and have stunning rock outcroppings.
Just so you are aware, our aspens are having a very bad year. You can find pockets of color, but this is not a good color season in the Colorado mountains.
Re: my glass half empty aspen report - you may want to view Todd Caudle's "oh no, another fall color thread" below. Todd is finding places to make exceptional autumn images....

Ken, and all
Ken, Thanks for the link to "MyColorado". For a stranger it illustrates the potential for many areas. I had originally thought of driving up to Yellowstone but have decided Colorado is far more than I camn cover in the few days I have. If there are any specific Extra Vibrant Color spots that are currently at peak I would love to hear of them.
Again, thanks for the very generous response.

A lot of us will be down in the San Juan's (Ridgway) area this weekend. Tomorrow I'm meeting several others down there and showing them some of the "hotspots" and when/how to shoot them. You're more than welcome to meet up with us if you can make it down there. Call me directly at 303-973-5184 tonight and I'll give you details if you're interested.

Tony, you might run into Paul and myself down there too, we are running around in that area.

Coincidentally, I have a similar situation as Bill. I will be in Boulder toward the end of next week for business and have about 3 days to do some photography of Colorado. Originally, I was hoping to go to Aspen and Crested Butte area. But after hearing so many negative reports about fall foliage in that area, I was going to give up altogether. Does anyone know how good the fall colors are currently in Ridgway area? Is it worth the long drive from Boulder? Will there be anything worthwhile left by the end of next week? I've never done any photo trip to Colorado before so I would really appreciate any help I can get.
