The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that the DOW is investigating a credible sighting of grizzlies in the San Isabel Nation Forest near Independence Pass.
Cool.

Wow, that's exciting, they would be great to photograph (from a long distance!), I filmed them once in Denali, from the inside of the shuttle bus!

a friend of mine was absolutely convinced she saw a grizzly near her home around Bailey. that was early in the Spring, and I laughed at her since many have thought that if there are still grizzly in Colorado, they're somewhere in the San Juans. this story makes her account slightly more credible, although still quite dubious.
At 80 yards (according to the article), it should be quite easy to ID a grizzly unless there were trees between the bear and the hunters. For experienced bear viewers, discerning the species is quite easy under good viewing conditions. Since these hunters were determined to be knowledgable in that regard, then the prospect of a grizzly living in Colorado is good, unless trees or other vegetation made viewing more difficult. I sure hope they were right!
