Portugal Cove
Nets and colorful floats lay on a dock in Portugal Cove, Newfoundland at sunset.

This is a combination of three exposures (all of the same scene). I had used a GND but I wasn't happy with the result.

this is a great shot...I really like.....I dont understand the 3 exposure thing, is that something you did in your camera or in the processing of the image...

I bracketed some exposures and used layer masks and gradients to bring them together in CS2 so I had a decent exposure in the forground and the sky.

NICE!! I like the depth of field...

I like it Ryan. It's tricky because the dynamic range here is so wide that this almost looks fake... maybe that's what you are feeling... that sky would be so bright it would be difficult to look at. But well done on the exposures and blending.

Overall I really like this. I think the nautical nets and colorful floats make the image.
Pleasing comp with the foreground pier guiding the viewer to the sunset and interesting cloud formation.

I tried an HDR, which turned out pretty good, but still not what I wanted. This is pretty realistic to how things looked to my eye.

Great idea and execution, Ryan, and I like most of it. The only part I don't like is that the buoys and nets pretty much line right up with the sun, it seems too obvious to me.
