Roxborough SP update
I posted a pic from Roxborough a week ago that was mostly green and visited again today in hopes of getting scrub oak closer to peak. One of my images taken today is attached.

If you're planning to shoot at RSP, don't wait too long. The cottonwoods and poplars are near peak and the oak is mixed yellow, orange, rust and red.

For those of you outside of the Denver metro area, Roxborough is west of Littleton, not far from Chatfield SP. It is a transition zone between prairie and mountains.

Although I hiked around, this image was taken from the visitor center.

D200, Nikon 18-200 lens.

Dave, thanks for the update.... I see that the park has hours posted of 8am to 5pm. Is this just for the visitors center or is there a way to get into the park before sunrise?

Those are the hours and I too wish they were better. Sometimes they have an early opening for photographers. Give them a call and see if they plan to open at 6:30 anytime soon. They do stay open until 7 pm, but it's mostly a morning place.

Thanks again. I did call and unfortunately they are done with early openings for the year. Guess I will just need to get their right at 8.

Dave, That really looks great. I am planning on getting there on Sunday. What is the story with getting in now? Is it 8AM? Anybody else thinking of Sunday?

Yeah, it's an 8 am gate opening. I was sitting on my truck waiting at 8:03 this morning when the lady showed up. I'd recommend shooting from the VC, then heading up the willow creek to south rim trail to get a nice perspective looking down on the rock formations. You don't have to hike too far up.

Roxborough is about the most regulated park you'll ever visit, outside of D.C. or NYC. A buddy of mine lives nearby and prowls it for wildlife. He's been warned by rangers never to walk off established trails, and against photographing any portraits there (commercial work is a big no-no). It's not a very welcoming place, just like the gated, guarded subdivision next door. The brush color is very nice now, even without cranking the saturation amp up to 11.
