Kebler photo and color conditions
I returned from a few days in the Kebler Pass area this morning. Not the best year, but I wasn't disappointed. Maybe dug a decent photo or two out of the trip (actually am digital nuts right now after years with film, and nearly filled my 4 gb card - it will take a while to sort through). This photo was taken Wed., so things have progressed a little.

If anyone is still thinking of heading out, I'd offer encouragement. The tourist type pullovers going up the Paonia side of Kebler had beautiful views of about two thirds changed trees. Further up the pass things got slightly bleak with pale trees and some blow off, but still some nice areas. The Paonia side of McClure was an awesome gold display. The Marble area was still nice, but slightly past prime. The snowy peaks are great everywhere. I had four days with about as many clouds, but a little weather change should help.

What a rookie! I just spent four days on the road and filled up four 2-gig cards and four 1-gig cards. Quit slackin' off, Roger!

Hey I'm still chuckling  Yeah, I keep forgetting about the low price of pixels. I ran across a guy who had been shooting for 4 days with an 8X10 and had made 15 exposures. Incidently, he was a nice fellow from Florida and said that you had given him some very helpful email suggestions about time and location, Todd. Seemed to appreciate it a lot.

I am in Crested Butte now. Got here yesterday and the color is great! Ohio Pass this morning was OUTSTANDING!! Tons of gold everywhere! No reds or oranges, but yellows and golds abound. Kebler is great too- Horse Ranch Park was glowing last evening, as was Marcellina Mtn. Just west of Marcellina (between MMs 13-14) was gorgeous! Snowcapped mountains, brilliant blue skies, and gold everywhere! the whole mountainside was covered. I'm staying at the CB hostel and can't upload photos, but there were plenty of other photogs in the area who, hopefully, might post photos.

I'll try to upload some photos tomorrow when the CB library is open. Happy shooting!

I was at Ohio Pass yesterday morning, and thought the colors were just okay. Definitely worth a trip, and a whole lot better than anything from Horse Ranch Park to CB, but I served with OUTSTANDING. I knew OUTSTANDING. OUTSTANDING was a friend of mine. Ohio Pass, you’re no OUTSTANDING. (Lloyd Bentsen, r.i.p.)

i suppose when you're from Indiana, OUTSTANDING is easy to come by around here. i am very happy with the shots i got this morning, although the rest of the afternoon was bland- cirrus clouds all day.

Very nice pictures and color Amy.

But you definately caught me off guard when I saw these images, until I read your description and looked the dates.LOL...

Please tell me you have managed to get out since last fall. :jump:

Thanks Derek!

When you live in the Midwest it's easy to be awed by the Rockies. The San Juans get me every time!

I haven't been out too much since last fall, considering Indiana has nothing but grey skies from November-March. I'll be back to Colorado come mid-July! Aspen, Boulder, Vail area, CB, and the Dunes are all on my list! CAZ and I are planning to meet up and hit the Dunes the weekend of July 14th. Feel free to join in!
