photo exhibit at Oregon State University
Hiya everyone,

This post is a shameless plug for my photo exhibit at the LaSells Stewart Center on campus at OSU. This forum has been very supportive and inspiring for me in the past year, so I'd like to take this opportunity to grab the spotlight for a moment. Details for the exhibit can be found on my website at www.jenerikimages.com

The photo above was taken last fall, also at OSU, on a foggy day in November, and soon this shot will be part of the exhibit as well. Getting this show together has taken much longer than I had expected, as I've had to get the prints made, mounted, matted, and framed. Not only is it $$$, but humbling -- once my prints started to go up on the walls I realized how much space there was to fill, and how insignificant my photos looked.

Details on the shot: Nikon D70, 29mm, f8, 1/30s. I used TLR's b&w conversion and toning actions for PS, plus loads of layers of curves, shadows & highlights, etc. Really just playing around until the look was something I could live with.

Speaking of Photo shows at OSU, there is to be a show of Ray Atkinson's work in the Spring. This image has the look of IR filtering?

Are you near Portland? I've got the tools &c to do framing and matting myself, just never quite got around to it, maybe this winter we could work together at learning the technique. There are lots of good books, it doesn't look hard at all.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. The show will be through November 20th at the LaSells Stewart Center. Most of the works are already up, and hopefully the last pieces will be in place in a week. Doyle, where will Ray Atkinson's work be displayed? This shot didn't have any IR filtering, although now that you mention it, that is probably what I liked about the final version. It's was a straight color shot, but with TLR's b&w conversion and then some slight sepia toning, it does get a bit of the IR look. Probably helps that the leaves were originally a dirty yellow, almost like corn flakes.

And Eric, thank you for the offer for learning matting and framing. I'm down in Corvallis, which may make this a little difficult for me.
