Unfortunately we had a smash-n-grab occur where we lost numerous items from the car, including my wife's P&S. Now we're shopping for a replacement, and was wondering if you all had any recommendations? The stolen one was a Canon A95, which we loved for general pix. Have thought about replacing with a Canon 630 since it's almost identical.

Does anyone have any input? Any P&S out there without shutter lag?

Sorry about just trolling this awesome group's site lately. I've not been behind the tripod/lens in quite some time due to work deadlines. I'll post hopefully soon so I can show you all what happens after a extended period of inactivity

Sean, you won't be the first to show up after long periods of inactivity. I beat you too it and some of my crappy shots can prove it, LOL.

Can't help ya out on the P&S, I just sold my Pro 1 because it...well, lets just say I didn't like it. I've never been impressed with any P&S as far as lag goes.

April really likes her A620 - but there is a miniscule amount of lag... maybe not enough to be an issue. It is a great little 7 megapixel..

If you're not getting out to the field, review some old slides, who knows what you might find? Besides, the season's just starting, I hope to see some good posts of fall color soon.

The place I like for camera reviews is www.dpreview.com

Here's a link to their side-by-side comparison, lets you pick any models:
