Hello... This is Brent D's wife reporting for him on his Fall trip so far. The colors from Denver to almost the top of Kenosha Pass are spectacular right now. There are lots of leaves down on top of Kenosha Pass. South Park is totally done. Saturday night 9/30/06 Kebler pass was awesome - earlier reports that the pass was bad are NOT true. From Horse Ranch Park to West Beckwiths overlook (mile markers 10 & 11) looks as good as in past years. From Horse Ranch Park to top of pass looks a little ragged, but plenty of good stuff to shoot.
From the North side of McClure Pass including the S curve and toward Marble - all leaves down. The South side of McClure pass to Paonia Res looked awesome as of Monday 10/2/06 - lots of scrub oak mixed in. Overnight Monday into Tuesday a storm with lots of wind and rain knocked lots of leaves down.
Tuesday 10/3/06 the West side of Owl Creek Pass starting to drop leaves but the colors that are there are great.
Brent D will send more reports as possible...
Thanks, Hillary! We just got back from our trip to Telluride and Ridgway - definitely some great stuff all around, and Owl Creek was patchy in spots, but spectacular in many areas. The light was pretty challenging for several days, but it looks like Brent has had some spectacular sunsets to work with the last couple of days.
Thanks honey for posting that. I'm in Ouray right now (1PM Wed) Hanging out with my buddie Jimmy. We shot the west side of Owl Creek Pass last night, and it was great! It had poured rain all day, finally breaking out late in the day. That storm definitely brought down quite a bit of leaves, no doubt. West side of Owl Creek Pass had some big patches down, but still great stuff near the top for sure! Shot sunrise on County Rd 5 this AM, and looked good too, same type of stuff as mentioned above. Headed to Wilson Mesa this PM. Not sure I'll get to report again. Take care!!
Hi Brent,
I probably was within minutes of you somewhere on Owl Creek Pass on 10-3. When the storm broke about 3:30-4 there was a magnificent rainbow which I managed to capture. I only saw 2 other vehicles on the pass at the time, but don't remember seeing a 4-runner other than mine.
