Columnar basalt in the Tieton River Canyon reflecting in Tim's Pond with a piece of a weathered tree limb breaking the almost still water.
I found the tree limb to be the only thing available with the high water to break up the still water. Right now the water is high because of the flipfop they do to flood the Tieton for the salmon run.
Does this work? Composition? Too busy? Abstract of nature?

As I review the site today I keep coming back to this image and I am confused about how I respond to it. You mention that the water was still so I assume that you PhotoShoped it. The reflectons don't have the look of moving water so I would have to call it an abstract. Would I hang it on a wall? In its current ineration I don't think so, perhaps with less of the painting effect in the reflections. I have been looking at it for more than ten min now and am still confused about my response. I could change my Mind, I don't think it is too busy but I like busy Photographs.

Doyle,
Thanks for the comments, the water was not still so not photoshopped other than a slight blur to remove some noise. It was taken .7 sec witha CE polarizer on my Tamron 24-135 at f16. Anyway thanks for trying, I think your response is why I posted it here because my response to the image is mized as well. I appreciate you taking the time to give me some feedback.
I think there is a bit too much going on in the reflection. I think the concept is good. I like the single object out of the water and the reflections, but I think it would be better if it was easier to separate or notice the branch and have an interesting reflection behind. I believe that I see what you were going for here. It doesn't quite work for me.

I like the color, composition and concept a lot.. The reflections of the vertical trees cutting across the horizontal dead tree limb in the water kind of breaks it up too much for me..
I like it, I haven't quite figured it out yet. To me this is the sort of image one can look at and keep returning to, as opposed to one that's immediately stunning. I think I would consider hanging this one, just because it has this quality of drawing one back to look and think some more.
IMO it needs another something to "ground" it and give perspectve. Otherwise my eye wanders all over and can't pick a path or a resting place in the frame. I like the painterly look of the lower part of the frame where the water reflections are. That's reaaly cool. This is close to a nice abstraction of nature.

thanks to all,
I think it is just too busy. I have a more intimate view I will post later that is simpler .
