My wife and I will be traveling to SW Colorado after I complete a few days business in Denver next week. My question is, does anyone have suggestions for "can't miss" landscape photo opportunities in that region this time of year? I know I'm a bit late for fall foliage, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for any input!

I would say you should really check out Dallas Divide (near Ridgway) and Wilson Mesa (near Telluride). Both have great panoramic views of some of the most dramatic peaks in the San Juans. You may even see some late season color still left on some of the trees that turned later.

Log Hill just west of Ridgway. Awesome panoramas of the San Juans.

You could stop at Black Canyon on the way... amazing place.

I would include Great Sand Dunes NP in my definition of SW Colorado. It's great any time of year.

The big attraction there, of course, is the RMNP photo exhibit now on display in the visitor's center.

I'm hoping the leaves are still on the trees in the Pagosa Springs area, specifically along the Mill Creek FS access road at the base of Square Top Mtn. It was looking pretty good last Sunday, but a few days can have quite an impact this time of year.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'll break out the map and see which ones might be feasible!

Thanks again!

If you do the loop Ridgway-Silverton-Durango-Cortez-Telluride-Dallas Divide-Ridgway, there is at least 3-4 days worth of photography just from the road or doing short hikes. That loop is great.
