Hi All! My schedule is allowing for a little bit of processing time, so I thought I would share an image from my trip to Palm Spring in August. I really enjoyed Joshua Tree NP, I spent part of two days there. This was an evening shot right after sunset. I cropped to a square format to match another image I will post later this week. Not a stunning image, but a very peaceful feeling to the scene.
Nikon D70, ISO 200, 18-70@55mm, long exposure, remote, tripod, curves, levels, touch of saturation and cropped.

Beth,
You're making me homesick. Grew up in La Quinta just down the road from Palm Springs. It always throws me and then makes me grin when I see "NP" after Joshua tree; I spent a lot of time there when it was a National Monument.
Why the heck were you there in August?!?!
I like the image. The hint of orangish pink just above the horizion is pretty sweet. And it's cool how you can get a sense of the texture on the tree just with the shiloette.
Did you work any other angles? If you got lower on this, I bet there'd be more separation in the branches.
Looking forward to part II.
Sean

Thanks all for your comments. I am looking forward to posting some more of this trip. I have several others I need to work on still.
Sean - You are right National Monument not Park. I seem to have a problem with that at times. I was there in August for planning a conference for NANPA, I would not recommend traveling to the desert in the summer. I had to take many breaks to get through the days - over 100 degrees most days, but in Joshua Tree it is a bit cooler. I do have a couple other angles I haven't processed yet. I will have to pull them back up, and post later on.
