This is the question I pose to myself after diving into the world of digital photography.....
I have My Nikon F4s which I bought brand new in 93. I was working a 5.50/hr job to save the 1895.00 it took to pay for it....but since digital has came out and I no longer need it...should I sell it or keep it for a backup.....The F4 has giving me some of the my best images eventhough I have not had the scanner to work them into digital all the prints in my home are from the F4....its a beast of a camera and I do love it....
So my question to you is....
what have you done with your Film based camera gear.....did you sell it or do you still have it....
anyone...anyone!!!!!

Darren,
I tried to hang onto film but I just couldn't do it. When I bought my first digital camera back in 2000, I never used my film cameras again. I put my PZ 70 up on Ebay and never looked back. Last year I bought an old pentax spotmatic for the heck of it thinking I might want to shoot film. Well It's just sat there in the same place I put it 10 months ago.

I'm planning to buy a dslr in the not too distant future, Pentax K10D 10.2mp with image stabilization. I'm looking forward to this new camera. However, I will keep and continue to use my 2 film 35mm pro slrs, and the lenses I collected over the years (compatible with both types of cameras, digital and film). I still really enjoy using film, and looking at the physical slides on the light table.

I shot with 4x5 and digital for awhile. I'm all digital now. Although I miss some aspect of the shooting large format, I just don't think I'd go back (occasionally though, I get to thinking I might, but realistically, no).

35mm film is rapidly being delegated to "alternitive process" although the "Great Yellow Father" has just introduced some new neg films recently. There are some things you can do with film that you can not do with digital just as there are some things you can do with digital that you can not do with film.
Dump you film gear? Tough call, if your going to do it, the sooner the better. High end 35mm gear may become more collectable in the future on one hand. On the other hand, maybe you could use the $$$ to buy a scanner.
I have not shot any 35mm film since I bought my Dimage 7. My film cameras sit as decorations on a shelf in my living room. I doubt I will ever use them again.
It's a tough decision when you have that kind of investment made. Gotta face it though, you'll probably never use it again. Better to sell it and put that money toward some nice glass
