Aerial Foliage
The image above was taken of an unknown peak in Vermont somewhere near Groton State Forest. Got an aerial hop with a friend to see the color. We left Nashua at about 7 AM flew north with open sky above us, but overcast to the west over Vermont, the north beyond Mt Washington, and even to the east over Maine. Flew through Franconia Notch up to Littleton, NH. and since there was a pretty heavy overcast we headed toward Knapp Airport near Montepelier, VT.

This image was a knob somewhere in or near Groton State forest.
Yesterday the air was pretty rough yesterday and this image was about as good as It got. The color around there seemed to be at peak but it looked like the thunderstorm they had Wednesday night (lots of heavy winds) knocked lots of leaves off the trees. We landed at Montpelier and rented a car and once on the ground it was clear that many of the leaves had come down the previous evening during the storms. I guess we will try again next year. . . :frown:

Nice golden light Jim. This may be Owls Head in Groton State Forest, but I'm not sure. I am probably going to be hiking Owls head tomorrow. Michelle and I spent the first few hours of daylight in Groton State Forest today. There was some incredible fog on all the ponds.

What an opertunity...sorry it didn't work out quite as planned with the wind...

This shot is really nice, might suggest a slight crop from the top, but otherwise :toast:

Nice light. If there is a rather pronounced cliff face on the other side of the mountain, I'd say it's Owl's Head. Also, did you happen to notice if there was a building on top (gazeebo)? if so, Owl's Head for sure.

I did not notice a gazebo, and I think Owls head would have been a mile or so toward the rear (west) of this image and maybe a little bit to the north. Not really sure. Oh how I wish we were up there this morning !!!
