Great shot John. These birds are quite stunning to look at, I always find the eye colour a bit odd/freaky.

Composition wise excellent as always, but not sure if it is my monitor but the image seems overly bright and oversaturated in colour, the throat patch for example seems rusty orange rather than the deep blood red that I had expected - is this due to Canadian species variation compared to UK "Loons"?

Another lovely image John. One of my favourite birds here at home - I've yet to see the North American 'loon' varient.

Hi Mike
it was the Alaskan lighting that gave the Loon the beautiful colour.

A superb example here John. The lighting makes this special.

I'm trying to decide whether cloning the small bg plantlife would polish it off nicely, or whether it wouldn't
either way, its a very fine shot!
