Hey yall,
Caught this beastie while cruising in the Kebler area yesterday.
The size and compression did a number on the detail in this image - there used to be a very nice catch light in the eye. Oh well.
He was pretty close, I was only at 240 mm here. The necks are starting to swell on these guys - getting ready for the rut.
(Update)
Thanks for the comments!
Here's a link
to another photo of the same buck. I don't like how the leg is lopped off but it was just behind the aspen tree. My wife liked this one and she's usually pretty critcal of my photos - which is a good thing.
Is it a keeper?

We saw deer in Kebler too when we were wandering in the woods, must be a few there.
Very nice, Chuck - it has a very autmn-y feel to it. There were a lot of deer near the roads down in the San Juans; maybe the snows moved them into areas they don't normally hang out in because I don't recall seeing even 1/3 that many in past years. Nice to see, except at night on the road!

Nice shot. I like the warm color and the foilage in the image.
