The Pictured Rocks lakeshore was at peak color this past weekend and the nearby inland areas (along M-28) are pretty bare now due to stiff winds from the south. There was some really nice color from Newberry to Whitefish Point but the color around Tahq falls was unimpressive and past peak (I think, we were only able to stay for a few minutes). Nice color on the short hike to the falls though.
Very cool, thanks for sharing these. I was out there last spring (2005) and this really reminds me of how amazing of a place it was. I need to get back!

I just arrived home from there about 40 minutes ago. There was still some color but not a great deal. I may post a photo or two sometime in the near future.

Very nice photos, Lars, from one of my (many) favorite parts of the UP.

My favorite part of UP, too. The same weekend, I was able to photograph an eagle that was perched in the big pine tree in the castle image.

Nice shots, Lars. I've been wanting to make a trip to the Pictured Rocks, maybe next year. So many places to visit and so little time.

Did part of Miner's Castle fall in? I have a photo I took some years back and it looks like one of the "turrets" is missing.
