Snow Geese This weekend ??
A few of your fellow NENP folks will be at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area looking for some good images of the Snow Geese this Saturday. The Geese are there, they seem to be hanging out in the far field to the south, based on reports in postings from our folks in VT. The weather is forcast to be about 50 F, 10 - 14 mph winds from the southeast, and 85% overcast. As always the birds will be a crap shoot but there are other things in the area that might make for good shooting.
I intend to be up there starting around 1-2 PM and will be there through sundown. If anyone heads up that way we can do some shooting and then possiblely grab some dinner after sunset. Email me if you want to exchange cell phone numbers so we can find each other.

The map posted above shows where the usual place is to shoot the Snow Geese. This is an experiment with the map and please let me know if you can see the detail and if it is helpful.

I will be coming back from Albany tommorrow afternoon and will update whether the corn has been cut. If it has should be much better opportunity for snow geese.

I stopped by Dead Creek this evening. The corn still hasn't been cut and most geese are in south field. Attached pic is 500mm+1.4.

This afternoon ( Sat 10/14) the geese were still in the south field. There was equipment cutting the corn fields but it did not look like they would finish today. The clouds moved in around 2:20 PM and I Left. The Griffins were there and we had a good conversation to catch up on things.

Jim...sorry I missed you. I got there about 2:45. As you know not the best day for the snow geese. My wife and I went out in our canoe and took some pics of a heron. Definetly a challenge with the wind.
