Fungus help please
Hi Everybody,

Thanks to all who replied on my last post.

Does anybody have an idea what fungus this is please? It is one that I found whilst out on my rounds this morning.

Fungus ID is abit of a weak point for me mainly because there are so many types so any help would be appreciated. The tehcs were:

Nikon D2X, Sigma 150mm, 1/40th sec at F7.1, beanbag,

C & C welcome

Thanks and Kind regards.
Chris

I've no idea what these are.......however, I know some guys who might if nobody knows here. Try http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/forums/fungi-mushroom-forums/ they are a helpful bunch and many of them take really good shots (in all of the forums).

Nice shot. Look at cropping closer to remove the fuzzy dark stauff in the foreground. Always find it useful to carry small pair of scissors to nip away grass, especially when doing small species like this.

Species could be Psathyrella family. Look at P. candolleana but as its in grass more likely to be P. multipedata which is quite rare - so well done! When doing fungi, its usually a good idea to take a compact digital to snap the habitat, and underside of fungi cap - theseare the biggest clues that will help identify. Nip to your local library and see whether they have: The Encyclopedia of Fungi by Michael Jordan. This is the most comprehensive book on fungi that I have ever found.

These online resources may help:

Looks to be a bit soft from where I'm sitting. The overall feel of the shot is good and with a little croppinfg and USM it could be very good
Thank you Elliot for the very handy tips....something I'm sure I'll remember to do when I'm out for fungi
